Tay Enoku serves as the General Director of Tay Juhana Foundation while leading the strategic development of Sambu Group, the main organization that provides resources to support the Foundation’s objectives.
He and his siblings continue to carry the torch passed down from the late Mr. Tay Juhana – the vision, values, and desire to create impacts that are translated into a socially-responsible coconut farming business for the benefits of the community at large and a series of philanthropic works aiming to simultaneously provide food for humanity and preserve the natural ecosystem.
As the Executive Director of Tay Juhana Foundation, Tay Ciaying’s work includes but not limited to direct, inspire and motivate the team as well as practice advocacy alongside the team members to achieve sustainable food production for humanity in light of threats of climate change and food scarcity.
At the same time, she is also the Executive Director of an established sister foundation of the organization called Bahtera Dwipaabadi Foundation (YBDA), which focuses on welfare and improvement of dignity of Indonesian farmers and workers that supports the continuity of Indonesian coconut industry as well as local communities.
Christian Hsieh leads the advisory board of Tay Juhana Foundation. He brings extensive experience in finance, strategy, and operations across banking, industrial, and consumer sectors.
Christian is a tech entrepreneur and a former executive director of J.P. Morgan Chase Bank in Asia. He is an active investor in technology and social ventures.
Ihsan obtained his Master’s Degree in Geography from Gadjah Mada University. His thesis is about mangrove forest change and fragmentation. Since then, he works in environmental management where he published numerous scientific articles and books. He believes that presenting scientific subjects as writing is his moral duty, and it is an artistic task.
Due to his scope of work, Ihsan enjoys conducting field research a lot. He prefers spending his time outside in beautiful landscapes. When he’s working indoor, he usually works on his pieces, or leisurely read books and watch series.
Dinda holds a Bachelor’s Degree in International Relations from Paramadina University and is currently pursuing her Master’s in the same field. Since 2018, she has been working in the philanthropy and social development sector, driving various initiatives to strengthen the philanthropic ecosystem in Indonesia. Her expertise lies in fostering collaborations, managing partnerships, and developing innovative programs that align with organizational goals.
Due to her passion for social impact, Dinda thrives in dynamic environments where she can engage with diverse stakeholders and lead projects hands-on. Outside of work, she enjoys exploring ideas on social change, reading, and connecting with people who share a vision for a better future.
Rivaldo is a social researcher with an academic background in anthropology. He holds a Master’s degree in the Anthropology of Global Futures and Sustainability from SOAS, University of London. He is also an LPDP scholarship awardee. Rivaldo has extensive ethnographic research experience across various regions in Indonesia, including Riau, North Kalimantan, and Papua. His research interests centre on socio-cultural issues, with a focus on sustainability, Indigenous communities, social transformation, and empowerment.
Rivaldo envisions a research practice that goes beyond academic inquiry—one that actively contributes to the empowerment of local communities. He is particularly committed to approaches that recognise and build upon existing knowledge systems at the local and community level. For him, meaningful social change begins with acknowledging the lived experiences, culture, and agency of the communities themselves.
Ratu earned a master’s degree in Geography with a specialization in Regional Development from Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM). After completing her postgraduate studies, she received an Erasmus+ scholarship to take part in the International Development Studies at Utrecht University in the Netherlands. She also was recognized as the best graduate from the Faculty of Geography in her graduating batch. Additionally, during her undergraduate studies, Ratu obtained three academic achievement scholarships from Bank BNI.
Ratu has a strong passion for scientific research, particularly in the application of systematic thinking in the realm of food systems and its impact on livelihoods or human welfare. Her primary focus is on qualitative analysis. Throughout her social research study, Ratu has conducted interviews with various groups of respondents from diverse entities. She was also actively involved in numerous scientific writing projects.
Safira, a young researcher with a Master’s degree in Soil and Environmental Biotechnology. She is driven by a strong desire to make a positive impact through scientific research, particularly in the area of environmental sustainability. Safira has extensive experience in the field of research, especially in agriculture. Her expertise includes data collection and analysis, as well as in-depth scientific writing. In addition, Safira has experience as a speaker at various conferences and seminars.
Safira is deeply passionate about environmental preservation and conservation, and her research activities reflect her commitment to a sustainable environmental future. Outside of work, Safira enjoys spending time outdoors, engaging in activities such as hiking, camping, and exploring forests. Her love for nature inspires and strengthens her dedication to environmental conservation.
Raka received his Master of Agricultural Science degree from the University of Tsukuba, Japan, focusing on the use of advanced technology to improve sustainable agricultural practices. For him, science-based agriculture is not just about increasing yields, but about creating a system that maintains ecological balance and ensures long-term food security. This belief drives him to continuously explore innovative ways to improve farming practices, whether by integrating technology applications or by uncovering new potential in agriculture, including farming on sub-optimal land. He sees challenges such as poor soil conditions or climate variability not as obstacles, but as opportunities to develop sustainable solutions that can benefit both farmers and the environment.
Outside of his academic and research work, Raka always makes time to connect with nature. When he is not in the office or busy with paperwork, he prefers to spend time outdoors enjoying his hobbies such as hiking and camping. For him, outdoor activities are not only a way to relax, but also an opportunity to learn from the environment and gain a deeper understanding of the connection between humans and nature.
Armed with a Bachelor of Science in Marine Science from Universitas Diponegoro, Paksi has dedicated his career to fisheries and marine science, grounded in environmental and biotechnological principles. He firmly believes in the immense potential of the fisheries and marine sector as a natural resource, not only for human benefit but also for environmental well-being. Paksi finds great fulfillment in field and laboratory research, relishing the opportunity to connect directly with nature.
He thrives on translating theoretical knowledge into practical applications collaborating closely with local communities and colleagues. Whether immersed in the vast outdoors or working diligently in a room, Paksi’s passion shines through. While in the office, he can often be found crafting research reports or other work-related documents, often accompanied by the soothing rhythm of music.
Puan holds an associate degree in Production Technology and is currently pursuing her bachelor’s in Agribusiness. Her interest in agriculture grew during college and deepened through her work at an agricultural company, where she visited fields and engaged directly with farmers. These hands-on experiences revealed to her that agriculture is not only complex but also deeply connected to nature, science, people, and patience.
Rooted in these experiences, Puan is driven to create real, on-the-ground impact by working alongside farming communities. She believes that even small contributions, when rooted in purpose, can spark long-term change. Outside of work, she enjoys playing badminton and spending time with friends to recharge.
Andri has over three years of experience as a communication officer in a conservation NGO specializing in orangutan preservation. A graduate of Universitas Palangka Raya with a degree in Government Science in 2018, Andri hails from Palangka Raya, a city known for its challenging peatland terrain. His experience in communication is complemented by a deep passion for photography, reflecting his keen interest in visual storytelling.
He firmly believes in the potential of every individual to make a difference and embodies qualities such as perseverance and a thirst for continuous learning. Andri envisions a future where environmental, social, and economic sustainability is prioritized. His ultimate goal is to foster a world where equal access to knowledge empowers everyone, contributing to an elevated quality of life for all.
Dewi is a Communication Science graduate from the Vocational School of IPB University. She then extended her study and obtained her Bachelor’s Degree at Sebelas Maret University.
Dewi loves to get involved in social projects and community empowerment activities since she entered college life. She also harbors a keen interest in the world of design and visual arts, having immersed herself in this realm since high school by participating in various design competitions. Currently, Dewi dedicates herself to translating TJF’s research findings into engaging visual formats that can be readily understood by a wide audience.
Mila has been interested in financial accounting ever since she was in high school. Her passion for Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) led her to explore Non-Formal Education for community empowerment.
During her college years, she was an active volunteer in various humanitarian and educational activities, while also focusing on her academics. She was awarded the Community Development Grant Program (PHBD) under the tourism village development category, which recognized her efforts in developing and improving the potential of the village through various development programs.
Regita holds a degree in Social Sciences with a focus on International Relations. Her interest in social issues began with her participation in small community activities alongside her parents, which inspired her to continue helping others. This passion grew further when she joined an international NGO, where she took part in various projects that had a positive impact. This experience taught Regita that even seemingly small contributions can have significant effects on others.
Since then, she has been dedicated to building a career in the social sector, including in Human Resource relations, to make meaningful contributions to society. Outside of work, Regita enjoys watching drama series and sports events, as well as caring for her “furry children” (cats) at home.
